  • 138 pages across ten sessions of ten sheets each, in the order the work happens - front sheet, brief, location and light, three shot list pages, frames, delivery, costs, and what you would do differently
  • A release register, not a release form. This book prints no release wording at all - a release is a legal instrument, its wording is jurisdictional, and one printed in a template you bought is worse than knowing you need a real one
  • What it registers instead is the record the form generates and nobody keeps: signed or not, by whom, for what use, whether the subject was a minor, where the signed copy lives, and the date you have decided to retain it until
  • No retention period is printed. Five years after last use is advice, not law, and it varies - the column is retain until, and you write the date your own position requires
  • A shot list grouped by setup rather than run as a flat checklist, because the day runs on light and location and a list ordered by importance is abandoned in the first hour
  • A got-it column and a priority column on every shot list page - priority is what tells you which frames inside a setup you cannot leave without
  • The file naming convention printed as a pattern with the separators drawn - client, date, session type - rather than as a sentence of advice
  • A location and light sheet with room for the time you scouted it and the time you shoot it, because those are different answers

What is inside

Filed by session. Ten sessions of ten sheets each, in the order the work happens: the front sheet, the brief, location and light, three shot list pages, frames, delivery, costs, and what you would do differently.

A REGISTER, NOT A RELEASE FORM

This book prints no release wording at all, and that is the decision it is built on.

A release is a legal instrument. Its wording depends on where you are, on whether the use is editorial or commercial, and on whether the subject is a minor. A form printed inside a template leaves you worse off than knowing you have to go and get a real one, because it looks like it did the job.

What it keeps instead is the record the form generates and almost nobody keeps: whether it was signed, by whom, for what use, whether the subject was a minor, where the signed copy lives, and the date you have decided to retain it until.

No retention period is printed either. Five years after last use, longer for a minor, is advice that circulates rather than law, and it varies. The column says retain until, and the date in it is yours. None of this is legal advice - it is a filing system.

THE SHOT LIST IS GROUPED BY SETUP

One setup to a page, because the day runs on light and location rather than on a ranking. A list ordered by importance is abandoned in the first hour.

· Priority is its own column, where it says which frames inside a setup you cannot leave without

· A got-it column, ticked on the day

· A location sheet with scouted at and shooting at side by side, because those are different answers

WHAT IS NOT PRINTED

· No camera setting. A printed shutter speed is the tempo in BPM of this trade

· No price and no turnaround time - both belong to your market and your contract

· No editing software or preset is named anywhere, because yours are not ours to assume

ALSO INSIDE

· The file naming pattern drawn with its separators - client, date, session type - rather than written as advice

· A costs sheet per session kept beside the fee, not in a separate ledger

· An enquiries register where the did-not-book column is the one worth reading

· A delivered log across every session, for when someone asks again in two years

· A kit log with a what-it-did-wrong column

· Every sheet carries a printed designation, so a page can be named
